Central Community College

The Sherman Building is located prominently along the main drive for the Central Community College Hastings campus.  Original built in 1942 as the fire station for the U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot, today it is home to the college’s campus bookstore.  The building has many unique and classic architectural features that were preserved or restored in order to maintain the original style.  Features include large openings for fire trucks that were infilled with butt-glazed curtain wall to mimic garage doors, and the original cupula being rebuilt to match the original hand drawn details.
