Von Riesen Learning Commons Renovation

The Mid-Plains Community College Learning Commons project was a complete renovation of the existing von Riesen Library in McCook. Almost all the existing interior walls were removed to open up the space. Lots of natural light and bright colors throughout help create a lively, inviting atmosphere for students. A large circulation desk anchors the front entry, with several offices and a testing center at the perimeter of the main level. Plenty of space is provided for student collaboration and study, with a variety of seating options available to accommodate different types of study. The stacks are located on the lower level, along with two group study rooms, more collaborative study space for students, and a small children’s area.
