Through early engagement with faculty and community members, CCC recognized the need to expand beyond the original scope of nursing and sciences, to embrace 21st-century technology and create additional opportunities for both new and existing programs. The project aimed to foster collaboration among students, faculty, and external partners, facilitating innovative projects and initiatives.

Working with the circular East Education Building on CCC's Columbus Campus, the design team seamlessly integrated a 12,000 sf addition that features a single-story design, allowing natural light to permeate all spaces. Paying homage to CCC's commitment to sustainability and growth, the design of the addition and donor wall was inspired by the Columbus Campus's beloved symbol of a windmill scattering seeds. The remodeled areas smoothly transition to the rest of the building, strategically incorporating circulation, collaboration, study, and administrative spaces.

The remodeled areas and new construction prioritize upgraded technology, cooperative spaces, and cutting-edge lab facilities. These enhancements are tailored to equip students with the skills required for an advanced workplace. By addressing the limitations and deficiencies of the existing space and incorporating state-of-the-art technology, CCC provides a modern learning environment that cultivates partnership opportunities and enhances student engagement.
