Aurora Cooperative Office
Agriculture is a major industry in Central Nebraska and the Aurora Cooperative has grown rapidly in supporting this important market. Through diversification into areas such as agronomy, grains, energy, animal nutrition, fertilizer and aerial/crop protection, the cooperative outgrew its existing corporate offices. Wilkins Architecture Design Planning was hired to program and design a corporate office building that would enable consolidation of the departments, while also facilitating the necessary relationships to conduct efficient business among the farmer-owners, staff and industry personnel. The building incorporates the latest business technology to allow the Aurora Cooperative to conduct business both locally and around the world. Designed with a rural Nebraska agricultural appearance, the open design of the facility facilitates open communication and flexibility as the departments change and adapt. Abundant natural light and views to adjacent farms and fields became an important design feature. The building is ideally located between an agriculture-related training facility and rural farm ground, demonstrating the unique relationship between farm, farmer and specialist.
