Solution: In 2018 the Elwood Public School engaged Wilkins ADP to study potential solutions for solving some of their urgent facilities needs including most notably security, student and staff safety, the lack of a well defined main entrance, and the lack of a lobby with proper restroom and concession facilities to support the various activities taking place in their gym. The ultimate solution involved the removal of a portion of the existing roof to allow for a new, taller and more prominent lobby to be built. The new lobby not only provides a well defined main entrance for the school but it also addressed the other facility issues that the school had in this part of the building. The addition features a large lobby space full of natural daylight, new secure administrative offices, new restrooms, and a new concession stand, along with new support facilities for the main food service kitchen. Patrons and guests arriving to games are immediately drawn into the gym space with large windows that look directly into the gym from the main entrance. This new addition not only significantly enhances the game day experience but also provides strategic improvements to the day to day operations of the school.
